A rant about Google Glass and social media

I was going to write something about how Google Glass is for losers who have to live their lives through a technological veil and I thought better of it. Apart from the medical, engineering, and commercial applications  I thought there may be a little envy in my skepticism about needing to have a computer strapped to my head so I can see the world the way a bazillion dollar company wants me to see it. A Bourgeoise New Year

I greeted in the new year with a picnic in the gardens at Heidi Museum of Modern Art. There is an exhibition of Louise Bourgeoise’s late works together with some Australian contemporary works by the likes of Kathryn Del Barton. Louise Bourgeoise’s art is much more feminine than I imagined it would be. From artbooks I had pictured a fierce dogmatic feminist harshness to her work. What is more important?

Yesterday I went to a Natalie’s Uncle’s funeral in the country. He was a parish priest there for some time and the church was packed with people wanting to celebrate his life and contribution to their lives. The church was so full people were seated outside underneath the palm trees listening to the service via speakers. Princess Diana it wasn’t, but this was clearly the funeral of a loved and respected man. There is nothing like facing up to the inevitability of death to motivate and throw into question.
